Produce respirator, ventilator and oxygen therapy equipment components at Casco Bay Molding. We offer a wealth of experience when it comes to ventilator or respirator component design, which may include half or full face respirator component design and portable ventilator part design, from drawing board to mass production. Beyond design experience, we also offer ISO 13485 certified quality procedures.
Please note that we do not manufacture entire respirator and ventilator equipment. Our specialty lies in the designing and producing the silicone and plastic components within those machines.
Develop and Manufacture Respirator & Ventilator Components
The need for domestically-produced respirator and ventilator manufacturing has never been higher. Not only does making oxygen delivery devices on American-soil make us less reliant on global supply chains, but it ensures that your products will be made with the maximum quality oversight.
Casco Bay Molding capabilities include:
Medical device component design
In-house precision tooling
Silicone and plastic injection molding
Global fulfillment
Our credentials include:
ISO 13485 certification
FDA-registered and inspected menstrual cup production
Maine Manufacturer of the Year (2018)
We also provide full material traceability and have experience developing antimicrobial products with lab test results.

5 Types of Oxygen Therapy Equipment
Oxygen therapy is a crucial part of hospital care for those suffering from respiratory or heart illnesses. In simple terms, oxygen therapy equipment is designed to make it easier for a patient to breathe. There are many different types of equipment that a hospital may require to adequately care for these patients. This may include:
Cannulas
Respirators (including masks, gaskets, filters, valves, and bands)
Medical ventilators (including tubes, humidifiers, interface, and filters)
Nebulizer components
All of this equipment is classified as a medical device. That means that it must be produced by a factory that has been certified for that level of manufacturing. Typically, this means being ISO 13485 certified: An intense auditing process that reviews a facility's quality control procedures throughout the design, manufacturing and fulfillment processes. Casco Bay Molding is pleased to be an ISO 13485 facility.
3 Types of Respirator Masks
Face masks may protect against pollution, construction particles, airborne diseases, and harmful fumes. But keep in mind that not all face masks offer the same level of filtration or are designed for the same uses. There may be divided into:
Disposable respirators made for everyday use
Professional and construction respirators made to prevent the injection of debris
Medical respirators made to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, especially in ICUs and other environments. They may be half or full face masks.
With increasing coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, demand for medical respirators and related disease prevention equipment is growing. These are mainly designed to stem the spread of the virus and do not serve as a treatment for it. If you are looking for medical advice, please see the CDC's guidelines for updated and accurate information.
Respirator Equipment Components
Though designs vary, here are a few components that may be included in medical and professional protection against airborne contaminants:
Inhalation valves
Particulate filters (on particulate respirators)
Cartridges
Exhalation valve
Exhalation valve cover
Valve gaskets
Yoke
Face piece (which may be full or half mask)
We have extensive experience designing gaskets and valves for medical and dental applications made from medical-grade silicone or thermoplastic. If you are looking to create a similar product for a ventilator, respirator or form of oxygen therapy please submit your request for quote below.
An Introduction to Medical Ventilators
Though "ventilator" and "respirator" may be used interchangeably in some cases, medical ventilator equipment is typically reserved for oxygen therapy treatment, not disease prevention. A CPAP machine -- which stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure -- is technically a type of ventilator. However, these are designed for partial or only nightly use, not for people with life-threatening conditions. Casco Bay Molding has designed and produced CPAP components.
A ventilator may provide positive pressure to ensure air flow into the lungs through the use of the following equipment:
An endotracheal tube
A nasogastric tube
Filters
Humidifier
Interface
Mechanical equipment
Pressure regulator
There are portable ventilators and icu equipment reserved for serious cases. In both cases their objective is the same: deliver pressurized air consistently to a patient who is unable to breathe sufficiently of their own accord. Some ventilators also have negative air pressure capabilities, meaning that they essentially suck air out of the lungs as well.
Oxygen therapy is commonly used after or during surgery, following a drug overdose, or in the case of a muscular or lung-related illness such as pneumonia or COVID 19.
Other Forms of Oxygen Therapy
We also have the ability to assist in designing and producing other oxygen therapy equipment, including:
Cannula or Reservoir Cannula: A tube that delivers oxygen through two small prongs placed in the nostrils.
Face Masks: Including (but not limited to) full and half face respirator masks, simple face masks, non-rebreather masks, trach masks, and aerosol masks.
Nebulizer Components: Equipment designed to humidify oxygen before it is delivered to a patient.
